There is nothing wrong in being accountable as
long as we realize what accountability is and what
it is not. Accountability is not about finding out
who's at fault or who's to blame. Accountability is
about being present for solutions. We are
accountable when we show up for the best solution
to come forward.
Often we think accountability is taking on the
blame for something. "Who's accountable for
this?" Understand, solutions and blame have
nothing to do with each other. We can be so
caught up in finding whose fault it is, who to blame,
that we no longer look for the solution. When we
have real accountability, we have someone who is
willing to be present in the face of any difficulty to
invite in and be present with the best solution.
We don't carry accountability, we are present for it.
The willingness to have the best come through, is
accountability. The world looks for blame, our
Higher Power looks for solutions.
It may be hard to separate the two, but we
admit our part in something, not our blame. We
may admit our mistakes and then say, "Okay, now
where's the solution?" If we are looking to take on
the blame, if we are either trying to take on fault or
put it elsewhere, we are not looking or asking for
a solution.
Even though the world places the two together,
solution and blame have nothing to do with each
other. Accountability is all about admitting our part
in a situation without coming from fault or blame.
It is saying, "This is my part, now how can this be
done in the best way possible. This is what I can
learn from this, now, which is the best direction
from here? God, would You show me. I am willing
to be present for Your solution and your guidance
to take the next step."
