Going in Cycles

Anytime we decide that something needs to be fixed in ourselves, we begin a vicious cycle. Anytime we decide something in the world around us needs to be fixed, we begin the rotation towards the next occurrence on the vicious cycle.

Once we decide something needs to be fixed, the next assumption automatically becomes, "There is something wrong with me." Once it is assumed there is something inherently wrong with us, we have great feelings of worthlessness, of being bad or even "evil". It is sometimes called, "original sin".

Once it is decided there is something wrong either with ourselves or with whomever is in our world, we move on to the next phase of the cycle: "If there is something wrong with me, then I deserve to be punished, attacked, hurt." We reason that if there is something wrong with us, if we are truly bad, then we deserve whatever punishment comes our way. It is reasoned that we deserve to be attacked. We deserve "Armageddon" as a punishment for what is "wrong" with us, as a correction for "original sin".

To overcome the pain of the belief in attack and punishment, we seek to be fixed. This moves us back to the beginning of the cycle. We are desperate to find what needs fixing. If only we could fix what we perceive to be wrong with us; we become desperate to fix ourselves, to fix others, to fix the rest of the world. We quite literally look for a "fix" that would take us out of the cycle. If only we could find what needs to be fixed, we could find out what was wrong with us, and if we could find out what is wrong with us, we would cease to feel attacked and punished.

And, so the cycle goes. In looking for a fix, we dig ourselves deeper and deeper into the hopelessness of this cycle.

There is a way out of this cycle. It is to realize this cycle is not a solution. Fixing is not a solution. At any point in this cycle, whether we come from fixing, believing there is something wrong with us, or believing in punishment and attack, we perpetuate that cycle once more. Fixing is never a solution. The world teaches us otherwise. We are taught there is always something to fix in ourselves, in others. But this position will only move us into the cycle once more where there is no solution.

There is only one solution, and that is to invite the Strength that is in each one of us to be experienced and expressed. The solution is to look to the worth in ourselves and in others. It is to invite each and every gift that is within us to be remembered, to be acknowledged, and to be supported.

The solution is to invite God into every moment, into each situation to show us that it is His Presence within us that is the "Soulution", that is the Worth, that is the Peace. For when we invite God and all His gifts to be in the beginning of the circle, we will move into seeing our Worth, and the Worth in others. We will see integrity, respect; we will see a sense of purpose, a sense of connection. This will move us into the experience of peace, caring, support and the real solutions. Once again our circle will be complete.

In gratitude we will see completeness in ourselves. In whatever we see, we will see the Divine. And, it is in seeing the Divine that we finally realize there is nothing to be fixed, only our essence to be invited, to be encouraged. We invite God to be this Essence. When we believe we deserve to be attacked or punished, we abandon our being. The whole world is desperate for a fix, but fixing is not the solution.

The circle of seeing our Worth is what energizes us, is what sustains us, and is what gives us all solutions. This circle brings us closer and closer to Home.
