There is an unconscious belief in many of us that we can ask
for too much. With this belief, we tend to save up our askings
and
only ask when we really think something is very important. We
become afraid to ask for fear that we'll "use up" all our askings.
With this belief in a limited number of askings, we won't ask
until it is absolutely necessary. We are afraid to use up all
our
askings to the point where we can no longer ask -- we have asked
for too much.
It is as if we make a bargain with God: "I won't ask for much,
but when I do ask, then I have a chance that You will listen
and answer my asking." And so, with this bargain, this belief,
we begin to save up our askings by sacrificing in order to
have future asking answered.
Quite often the difficulty with this arrangement is that not only
do we sacrifice every day askings of assistance and help, but
any "important" askings are always placed in the future. The
result
of this arrangement is: we don't get to ask.
We ask you to consider asking as a limitless well that is constantly
being replenished each time you ask. We ask you to consider that
there is no limit to the number of askings you can have. We ask
you to consider that the more you ask, the more this limitless
well
can express its being. There is an unlimited supply of askings
that
you couldn't possibly use up even if you tried. We encourage
you
to ask for God's help and assistance for anything and to see
there
is no quota on asking. Truly, this is God's unconditional asking.
